Tangled in Tangerine

The first day of spring has come and gone, and I don’t know about other places, but where I live it still feels like winter. So Im super excited for summer to finally come around, the warm weather always means lighter clothes, and warmer colours.

Kinda like this tangerine coloured crop top I bought from a little gem in Toronto called ‘Black Market’. I mentioned this store in my Grey Matter post a while back. I think it was around $4, and I cut the bottom myself. I grabbed a pair of scissors, threw it into the wash and voila! I love this top, its fun and flirty and goes with practically anything.

Jennifer shot these pictures at an art gallery, and I remember loving this one perticular painting. The contrast between the orange and the gold and dark shades, is really dope.

This was the last outfit change we shot, and I cannot wait to shoot with her again. The summer allows so much more freedom and choices in terms of  location and wardrobe, so its exciting to think of what were going to come up with next.

Just like any other year, fashion savvy and world renowned photographer Tommy Ton makes his rounds. His presence was definitely felt at the most prestigious fall ’13 fashion shows and Ive got the proof. Street style is obviously one of my favorites; so raw, unique and very inspiring. So you know I had to blog about my personal favorites. Lets take a look!

Pony Tail

When it comes to winter shopping, I’ve never been someone interested in color. Im notoriously in love with blacks, beiges, browns and basically any neutral tones. So when I found this little number at Forever 21 back in November, I was all over it.

The elongated back is definitely my favourite detail about this dress. Goes perfect with a really high heel or even a pair of cute flats.

Metallic Dreams

With February coming to an end, Im super excited for the warm weather to finally come around. Because the weather is so crazy, whenever I do step out I rarely wear a skirt or dress. But when I do, I usually opt for something like this metallic dress I bought from American Apparel.

_DSC0336

One of the really great qualities that I love about this dress, is its ‘painted on‘ look. The fabric is so tight and has this liquid-like affect which is really cool and different. I don’t have too many dresses like this particular one, so when I do wear it, its a special moment.

I got my shoes from Aldo. Something about a nude strapped heel, catches my eye all the time. And these ones are super comfy so I got lucky.

_DSC0353

I paired the dress with the Multi-Layered Body Chain’ from Empressence.com; Check out the website, theres a bunch of amazing accessories on there!

Lace Me Up

Theres something about lace thats just so sexy and I think it will always be a go-to choice for any woman who is trying to add some spice to her outfit. I got this black asymmetrical lace top last year in Toronto in two colours; black and salmon.

I didn’t get to wear it enough last summer, but when I did, I would always pair it with jeans, leggings or anything with a pant. Just to balance the amount of skin and “sexiness”.

I love this statement piece I have around my neck. I got it a while ago at H&M and I love that its so versatile. It could be worn with a plain white tee and jeans, or on top of a LBD. And because its so big and dramatic, I have the option of wearing it alone. Im wearing Forever 21 Jeans & Booties and my lip colour is Deep Plum in ‘New York Kiss’.

Lost in the Forest

One of my all time favourite stores has to be American Apparel. They have any and everything you could want – from hats to underwear, to dresses and jackets. One of my good friends works there, and every time I see her, I get more and more inspired to shop there. She is literally a walking advertisement. Anyways I got this forest green, long sleeves criss-cross dress not too long ago from there, and it gets a lot of love from me.

Since the garment is made from cotton and spandex, it doesnt constrict me but allows movement, which in turn makes it really comfortable to wear.

The moment I saw this dress, I immediately loved it. Especially the forest green. It was just starting to get cold around here and I knew I needed a color that I could carry through the winter. Plus its very versatile. I could doll it up with 6 inch heels, lots of jewelry and a dark lip color if Im heading to a party, or easily pair it with combat/thigh high boots, and an oversized cardigan. Whatever Im feeling at the moment.

Wearing The Clouds

There is something about leggings that will always have my attention. They’re always my go-to option when Im looking for comfort. I bought these grey and white spotted leggings at a ZARA sale about two years ago, and they’re probably my favourite pair. They’re so versatile, they could be worn with a cute little tank top like the one I’m wearing, or you could wear it with a grey hoodie on those lazier days.

_DSC0481

_DSC0486

_DSC0498I remember the exact day we received these pairs of leggings, everyone at ZARA went crazy for them! My old manager bought a pair as well and rocks hers in different ways too. The thickness of the fabric allows the leggings to come off almost like a denim, but the spandex allows breathability just like a normal legging. Its honestly best of both worlds.

_DSC0496

_DSC0497This black tank top is actually part of my mothers old collection of clothing she doesn’t wear anymore. She bought it in a little shop in Montreal about a decade a ago. To be able to play around with her old clothes, is always super fun.

_DSC0500

_DSC0502My Lip colour is ‘New York Kiss’ in Deep Plum, boots from Forever 21, and the beautiful multi layered necklace I’m wearing is part of my sisters collection on her site, Empressence.com! I did a post on the jewelry line shes selling on my other blog, you could find that here!

_DSC0453Hope the rest of your week is amazing!

Belt It Out

Its been exactly one month and a day since the last time I blogged, but feels like forever. Searching for a new, talented photographer is as difficult and tricky as searching for that perfect 6 inch gold platform. Its tough. So when I finally met someone that totally fit the bill, I waisted no time approaching her. She goes by the name Jennifer Langa, and Im super excited to show you guys the body of work we were able to create.

Something about knit dresses will forever have my attention. I bought this light pink/peach dress awhile ago at H&M, and I love pairing it with everything from military boots, to booties. Its definitely a fun dress to play with, not to mention super comfortable.

I paired the knit dress with cheetah booties from Forever 21, and a brown belt from ZARA. The thing I love about this belt is it could be twisted in a very unique way. I usually wear it with a pair of army green or beige harem pants (which they actually come with when you purchase harem pants from ZARA). This specific knot can be achieved with any belt and immediately takes your outfit to a whole other level.

I chose a red lip to add some pop to an outfit with such a neutral colour scheme. This particular lip is ‘Kate Moss Lasting Finishing Matte’ by Rimmel London in Rosetta.

A little Pre-Fall magic

As of late, designers have been debuting their Pre-Fall 2013 collections for all of us addicts to indulge in. I visited my year-round favourites like Zac Posen, Gucci, Dsquared, Hervé Léger and Jason Wu to name a few, and of course, I was ridiculously in love. From the use of leather (which is one of my favourite things ever) at Jason Wu and Phillip Lim, to the wide legged trousers at BCBG Max Azria, Pre-Fall screamed ‘wear me and never take me off!’ haha!

Just like any other year, Ive gathered my personal favourites. But divided them by designers, with an ‘honourable mentions’ group at the bottom. A little something different this time.. nonetheless, the glamour is still the same – the set up just changed. Let’s take a look!
